An unusual combination of education, strategy & performance

Charles Storey's career began with a BSc in Computer Forensics, which included first-class units in ethical hacking and cybersecurity — subjects that remain central to his teaching practice today. He subsequently trained as a teacher at King's College London, completing a PGCE in Computing and earning UK Qualified Teacher Status.

His teaching career has spanned the UK and the Middle East, including roles as Computer Science Subject Lead at international schools in Kuwait and Dubai, and Acting Joint Head of Computer Science at a UK secondary school. He has taught Computer Science from KS3 through to the IB Diploma Programme.

Alongside his academic career, Charles has pursued chess to an elite level, achieving the title of FIDE Master with two International Master norms. He has coached England's junior international teams and has personally coached more than twenty UK National Junior Champions.

His published chess work — through ChessBase and TheChessWorld — has reached a global audience. The Sniper series, built around the opening system 1...c5 followed by ...g6, ...Bg7 and ...d6, has become one of his most recognised contributions to chess literature.

Charles also holds an FA Level 2 Football Coaching qualification and played semi-professionally for Blyth Spartans. He has coached at Wallsend Boys Club and incorporates football technique and physical development into private family programmes where appropriate.
